Basketball Recap: Soroco Comes Up Short

Soroco was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They took a blow against the North Park Wildcats, falling 68-40. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 82-30 last Friday.

Soroco lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Isaac Perez, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Those 12 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brayden Dudley, who posted 15 points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Soroco smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Park only two offensive rebounds.

Gavin Pittington continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for North Park, shooting 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double with 33 points and 12 rebounds. With that strong performance, Pittington is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Graham Cornelison was another key player, putting up ten points.

Soroco's loss dropped their record down to 1-19. As for North Park, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-10.

Soroco has already played their next game, a 67-41 defeat against Hayden on the 28th. As for North Park, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 64-38 loss against Plateau Valley on the 1st.
