Avery Brann gave up the fewest earned runs she has since back in May of 2024 on Wednesday. Essex had no answer to Brann as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Brann has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

Brann's strong effort led Rappahannock over Essex and she'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
