Nikita Zamora and Erik Mensendiek provided fans with a highlight when they connected against California. The connection went for 81 yards, the longest such play in East Bay this season.
Monte Vista moved up to 413 from 445 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Mustangs were able to move up by losing to the Grizzlies 31-28.
Zamora threw for 311 yards and 4 touchdowns. He went 20-30 with 1 interception.
Simi Hingano was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 96 yards on 8 carries as California fell to California. Blake Bierwith also contributed to the rushing game with 77 yards on the ground.
6-foot-2 quarterback Zamora of the Mustangs is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,206. He has also thrown 8 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is CJ Cornwell. The California star has 26 catches for 428 yards.
A big matchup in East Bay this week will be when Eric Billeci's team takes on San Ramon Valley. At the moment, the Grizzlies are in second, while the Wolves are in fourth.

The Grizzlies extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Mustangs, 31-28. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
