Soccer Game Preview: Petaluma vs. Napa

Petaluma hasn't had much luck against Napa recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Petaluma Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Napa Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. Petaluma's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Petaluma is headed into Thursday's following a draw, the team's first since December 16. They and Casa Grande finished up their matchup with a 1-1 draw on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Napa waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let Wolves onto the board and left with a 2-0 win. Given the Grizzlies' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 148th, while Wolves are ranked 803rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Petaluma's draw gives them a new season record of 0-5-3. As for Napa, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-1-1 record this season.

Petaluma might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Napa in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Petaluma avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
