Basketball Recap: Ivan Cotto's Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Milwaukee over Greendale

South Milwaukee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 76-67 to the Greendale Panthers. The Rockets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

South Milwaukee's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ivan Cotto, who went 6-for-9 on his way to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasiah Jones, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds.

South Milwaukee's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Greendale, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, South Milwaukee will be playing in front of their home fans against West Allis Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rockets will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Greendale, they will head out on the road to challenge Pius XI Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Panthers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
