Football Game Preview: Morgantown Mohigans vs. Spring Mills Cardinals

For the first time this season, Morgantown will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They are taking a road trip to challenge the Spring Mills Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Morgantown 10.5, Spring Mills 8.2) so any points scored will be well earned.

Spring Mills will be up against a hot Morgantown team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Mohigans blew past Connellsville 48-21 on Friday. Given the Mohigans' advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked fifth in West Virginia, while the Falcons are ranked 300th in Pennsylvania) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Isaiah Thompson was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 128 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. Those 128 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Morgantown proved: they limited Connellsville to a paltry 2.1 yards per carry. The Mohigans didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 11.1.

Meanwhile, Spring Mills never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past Musselman 20-0. The victory continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Applemen: they've now won three in a row.

Morgantown's record now sits at 4-0. As for Spring Mills, their record is now 3-1.

Morgantown came up short against Spring Mills when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 14-7. Can the Mohigans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
