Soccer Game Preview: Mariner vs. Barron Collier

The Mariner Tritons will head out on the road to challenge the Barron Collier Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Mariner is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Florida's top teams: North Fort Myers, who was ranked 14th at the time (Mariner was ranked 24th). Mariner came up short against North Fort Myers on Thursday, falling 4-0. The Tritons' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Barron Collier kept a clean sheet against Neumann on Wednesday. They blew past the Celtics 4-0. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by three goals or more this season.

Barron Collier used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Neumann. And. Adriana Negron made the most of the opportunity, putting up one assist A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.

Mariner's defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-2. As for Barron Collier, their win bumped their record up to 9-4-1.

Mariner beat Barron Collier 2-0 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mariner since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
