Basketball Recap: KIPP College Prep Falls to Parkdale in First Game of Season

KIPP College Prep unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by the Parkdale Panthers 57-13 on Monday. KIPP College Prep just can't catch a break and has now endured four losses in a row dating back to last season.

Layla Burton was nothing short of spectacular for Parkdale: she dropped a double-double on 28 points and 11 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Burton has scored at least a third of Parkdale's points. Another player making a difference was Hannah Youn, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

The win was the third in a row for Parkdale, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. KIPP College Prep will host DC International at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Parkdale, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against High Point at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Parkdale's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
