Haywood unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-pitch advantage in their season opener. They lost 7-1 to the St. Benedict at Auburndale Eagles on Thursday. Haywood were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 5-0.

The victory got St. Benedict at Auburndale back to even at 1-1.
