Charlotte Christian scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Charlotte Country Day, 27-21. At the time, the Buccaneers were ranked 16th in the state, while the Knights were 46th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Charlotte Country Day, who took down 16th ranked Charlotte Country Day, 27-21. Desmond Lawrence ran for 191 yards and caught two passes for four yards in the win.
Charlotte Christian's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Eric Lynch threw for 134 and two touchdowns and Bo Hines had 83 yards receiving. Jeb Blazevich helped Charlotte Christian's passing attack out by catching one ball for 44 yards.
Tripp Mulligan made the biggest impact on defense this week as Bob Witman's team lost to Jason Estep's team. The senior grabbed one interception.
Thanks to the talents of Michael Radford and Jimmy Kleitches the Buccaneers have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Radford leads the league in passing with 1372 yards, while Kleitches has rushed for 753 yards this season. The Knights' Hines leads the league in receiving yards with 452 on 29 catches.
Charlotte Country Day suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after losing to Charlotte Christian. The Buccaneers had been ranked 16th, but fell to 27.
