Basketball Game Preview: Sunnyslope Vikings vs. Desert Vista Thunder

The Sunnyslope Vikings will venture away from home to challenge the Desert Vista Thunder at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sunnyslope is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.5 points per game this season.

Sunnyslope is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Millennium, who was ranked second at the time (Sunnyslope was ranked 16th). Sunnyslope skirted past Millennium 52-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted since February 13, 2024.

Kylie Rarrick was nothing short of spectacular: she went 7 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points. Those 26 points gave her a new career-high. Maggie Luba was another key player, going 5 of 10 on her way to 10 points.

Sunnyslope was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Desert Vista slipped by Hamilton 63-62 on Friday.

Sunnyslope's record is now 13-7. As for Desert Vista, their record is now 11-8.

Sunnyslope suffered a grim 49-27 defeat to Desert Vista when the teams last played back in December of 2021. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Sunnyslope was down 32-12.
