Recap: Farmville Central Jaguars vs. Reidsville Rams
After a string of 27 wins dating back to last season, the Farmville Central Jaguars's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 76-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Reidsville. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Farmville Central has scored all season.
Farmville Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chris Rhodes, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. Those eight rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Mykal "MJ" Williams, who scored 19 points along with three steals.
Reidsville found their leader in underclassman Kendre Harrison, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnniyus Sharpe, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds.
Farmville Central's loss dropped their record down to 7-1. As for Reidsville, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Farmville Central will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Broughton at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Broughton is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52 points per game. Reidsville will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Cannon at 5:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023. One thing working in Cannon's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
