Nixon suffered their closest defeat since December 3, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of the Alexander Bulldogs by a score of 54-52. The Mustangs' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Nixon lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was AJ Palacios, who shot 86% from the field to rack up 16 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Dante Escobar, who went 5-for-8 en route to 12 points.

Nixon's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Alexander, their victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1.

Nixon will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Palmview at 7:30 p.m. on the 16th. The contest will give the Mustangs their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Alexander, they have already played their next game, a 68-61 defeat against Ray on the 9th.
