Football Recap: Crystal River Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Crystal River extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 2-5. They were beaten by The Villages Charter Buffalo 49-0. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 376th, while the Buffalo are ranked 81st).

As for The Villages Charter, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.6 points on average this season.

The Villages Charter's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ja'Dence Kennedy, who threw for 155 yards and three TDs on perfect 6-for-6 passing. Omari Hill was in the mix too, providing the Buffalo with two touchdowns.

Looking ahead, Crystal River will face off against Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for The Villages Charter, they will square off against Astronaut at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The War Eagles' defense has only allowed 14.7 points per game this season, so the Buffalo's offense will have their work cut out for them.
