Volleyball Recap: Five Straight Road Wins for Liberty

Liberty waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Paloma Valley Wildcats by a score of 3-1. For the Bison, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 win the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2023.

The victory didn't come easy: Paloma Valley scored at least 20 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-20, 18-25, 25-23.

Liberty got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyler Guardado out in front who had ten digs and four blocks. That's the most blocks Guardado has posted over his last seven contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Damian Cabrera, who had nine digs and two aces.

Jayden Estrella and Jhomar Yanga certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Estrella had 15 assists and three digs, while Yanga had six kills, six digs, and two aces. Estrella has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more assists the last three times he's played.

Liberty's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-9. As for Paloma Valley, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 16-10.
