Softball Game Preview: Russell Red Devils vs. Valley Indians

The Russell Red Devils will square off against the Valley Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Russell has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Monday, Russell came up short against Lewis County and fell 12-7. The Red Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Karson Honaker and Hadley Cook did some serious damage despite the final result: Honaker went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Cook went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Ava Howard was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Valley came up short against Wheelersburg on Monday, falling 11-1. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Russell's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.

Russell took their victory against Valley in their previous meeting back in March of 2017 by a conclusive 9-2 score. Will the Red Devils repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
