Basketball Recap: Evan Mctish's Big Game Can't Quite Lead North Penn-Liberty over Muncy

North Penn-Liberty lost against Muncy back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The North Penn-Liberty Mountie took a 58-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Muncy Indians. While losing is never fun, the Mountie can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 390th, while the Indians are ranked 175th).

Several Mountie players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Evan Mctish, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. Those 19 points gave Mctish a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Blake Oakley, who posted ten points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Muncy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kohen Meyer out in front who went 9 of 10 on his way to 18 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxton Frantz, who had 12 points and three steals.

North Penn-Liberty now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Muncy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.

North Penn-Liberty will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Williamson at 6:00 p.m. on January 7th. North Penn-Liberty is facing Williamson at the right time seeing as Williamson is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Muncy, they will square off against Northwest Area at 7:30 p.m. on January 6th. Muncy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.6 points per game this season.
