Baseball Recap: Bothell's Losing Streak Snapped at Six Games

Bothell came into Wednesday's matchup having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Juanita Ravens 5-4 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since March 16th.

Kam Matthews tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Bothell is 2-1 when Matthews allows one or fewer earned runs, but 4-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Cam Wallace was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Bothell's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 4-6 when he doesn't). Carson Herrick was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

Bothell hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Bothell's record is now 6-7. As for Juanita, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Bothell will have a chance to go back-to-back against Juanita: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
