While Maumee put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Northwood. The Panthers blew past the Rangers 11-0. Considering the Panthers have won 14 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Hannah Ruiz made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Ruiz was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taylor Smith, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Autumn Gugger, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Maumee is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Northwood, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-9.
Looking ahead, Maumee will challenge Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Fighting Irish will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. Northwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
