Football Game Preview: Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Ravens vs. Averill Park Golden Knights

The Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Ravens will take on the Averill Park Golden Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk sitting on three straight wins and Averill Park on five.

Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 28-0 victory over Ichabod Crane. Given the Ravens' advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Riders are ranked 128th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mason Carkner, who threw for 203 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes, and also rushed for 37 yards and one score. Those 203 passing yards gave Carkner a new career-high. Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk's leading receiver Ta'Rae Makhi Green was Carkner's top target yet again, picking up 131 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Meanwhile, Averill Park humbled Gloversville with a 28-0 victory. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Golden Knights just coasted through the last quarter.

Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Averill Park, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 7-2.

Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in September, slipping by Averill Park 14-13. Do the Ravens have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
