Basketball Recap: Rayce Jenkins' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Escalante over Bryce Valley

Escalante lost against Bryce Valley back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Escalante Moquis came up short against the Bryce Valley Mustangs, falling 72-51. The Moquis' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Several Moquis players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rayce Jenkins, who went 6-for-9 on his way to 13 points and four steals. That's the most steals Jenkins has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mac Porter, who had 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks.

Leading Bryce Valley to victory were Luke Andrus and Rustyn Chynoweth. Andrus almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten boards, while Chynoweth scored 16 points and three steals. Andrus has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Cooper Owens was another key player, putting up ten points.

Escalante's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Bryce Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 10-13.

Escalante does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bryce Valley, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Wayne at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Bryce Valley is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
