Baseball Recap: Irvin Takes a Loss

Irvin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Riverside Rangers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Rangers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 10-0 loss on Friday.

Anthony Badajosa put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Joseph Davila was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Irvin's defeat dropped their record down to 4-18-1. As for Riverside, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-7-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Irvin will face off against Austin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rockets are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Riverside, they will welcome Del Valle at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Conquistadores' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Rangers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
