Basketball Recap: Heritage Takes a Loss

Heritage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by the Cumberland Pirates 53-9. The Hawks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-9.

James Dillon was Heritage's leading scorer, having posted four points.

Cumberland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chase Stewart led the charge by going 5 for 12 on his way to 14 points. Isaac Venatta was another key player, going 5 of 6 en route to 11 points and four steals.

Heritage's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Cumberland, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-8.

Heritage didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 51-44 defeat against Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond on the 24th. Cumberland has also already played their next game, a 46-43 win against Okaw Valley on the 23rd.
