Basketball Game Preview: Marietta Blue Devils vs. East Paulding Raiders

The Marietta Blue Devils and the East Paulding Raiders will face off at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Marietta is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.2 points per game this season.

Marietta will head out to face East Paulding after giving up their first home loss of the season on Friday. The contest between Marietta and North Paulding didn't end well, with Marietta falling 55-39. The game marked the Blue Devils' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Leah DeWitt, who posted 19 points and eight rebounds. Her evening made it 11 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mckenzie Everett, who had 11 points.

Even though they lost, Marietta smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, East Paulding was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 51-46 to New Manchester. The Raiders have struggled against the Jaguar recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Marietta's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5. As for East Paulding, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-4.

Everything came up roses for Marietta against East Paulding in their previous meeting back in January, as the team secured a 64-17 victory. In that matchup, Marietta amassed a halftime lead of 40-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
