Volleyball Recap: Deshler Dragons vs. Sandy Creek Cougars
Deshler was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sandy Creek Cougars. While the Dragons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cougars 25-21 in the first set.
Deshler started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 21-25, 22-25, 27-25, 25-20, 18-16.
Jessie Kayser paced Deshler's offense, picking up 26 kills. Kayser got some help from Molley Drohman and her 21 assists.
Sandy Creek found their leader in freshman Emersyn Pohlmeier, who had 25 digs and two aces. Those 25 digs set a new season-high mark for Pohlmeier.
Deshler's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Sandy Creek, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8.
Looking ahead, Deshler will head out to challenge Meridian on Thursday. As for Sandy Creek, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against High Plains at 5:00 p.m.
