Football Recap: Burbank Continues Home Dominance on Friday

There's no place like home for Burbank, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 41-27 victory over the Westwood Warriors on Friday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Bulldogs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 384th in California, while the Warriors are ranked 86th in Arizona).

Burbank's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deshawn Laporte, who threw for 362 yards and four touchdowns. A healthy portion of that aerial production (80 yards to be exact) went to Chase Miles, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Burbank didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Aiden Dagher and Noah May-Vaughn.

When it comes to explaining why Westwood lost, don't look at Keshawn Barkus. Despite the final result, he rushed for 165 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.9 yards per carry.

Burbank pushed their record up to 1-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Burbank will venture away from home to take on Galena at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Westwood, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Desert Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
