Softball Recap: Casey County Triumphs

Taylor County typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Casey County proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Cardinals. This was a revenge game for the Rebels: when they faced off against the Cardinals back in March, they had to take a 9-5 defeat.

Harmony Meece spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Elizabeth Forbes and Emily Jeffries did most of the damage at the plate: Forbes went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs, while Jeffries went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave Jeffries a new career-high.

Casey County's win bumped their record up to 13-15. As for Taylor County, their loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 22-8.

Casey County has already played their next game (against Garrard County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Taylor County, they will square off against Meade County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
