Softball Game Recap: Huntington North Vikings vs. Bellmont Braves

Huntington North had lost six straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-13 to make it seven. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 13-8 to the Bellmont Braves, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Braves apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Anna Kalhoefer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Addi Richardson, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one double.

As for Bellmont, the win snapped their losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 6-9 record. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

On Bellmont's side, the team relied heavily on Emily Bleke, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most doubles Bleke has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Finnley Godsey, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Huntington North has already played their next match, a 13-10 victory against Marion on the 9th. As for Bellmont, they will be playing at home against New Haven at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Braves are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
