Softball Recap: Mountain House Wins Going Away Against Kimball

Mountain House won the last time they faced Kimball and things went their way on Friday too. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Jaguars. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Luna Lopez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Cassidy Townsley was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Mackenzie Coffman was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Mountain House always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .565. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kimball only posted an OBP of .304.

Mountain House is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Kimball, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-9 record this season.

Mountain House didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Le Grand on the 25th. As for Kimball, they have also already played their next game, an 11-3 victory against West on the 25th.
