Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Sacred Heart-Griffin walked away with it. They strolled past the Jacksonville Crimsons with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 73-57. Given the Cyclones' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Crimsons are ranked 267th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jacksonville's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amaree Burries, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds. That's the most boards Burries has posted since back in February of 2024. Masen Johnson was another key player, shooting 50% from the field en route to 17 points.

The win got Sacred Heart-Griffin back to even at 16-16. As for Jacksonville, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-19.

As of now, neither Sacred Heart-Griffin nor Jacksonville have any future games scheduled.
