League recap: Southington bests Cheshire in blowout

Central Connecticut I West recap December 3, 2013

Southington took down Cheshire 38-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Stephen Barmore threw for 190 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 47 yards during the win.

New Britain made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,121 from 7,874. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 32-6 victory over Berlin last week.

The Blue Knights' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Zach Maxwell chipped in 71 yards. Alex Jamele helped Southington's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 50 yards.

He was 14-22 with 1 interception.

Jasen Rose was the best receiver in Central Connecticut I West this week as Southington topped the Rams. Rose racked up 6 receptions for 74 yards. Jamele helped Southington's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 50 yards.

Mike Drury's team's Barmore and Jamele led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Barmore has thrown for 2,382 yards this season, while Jamele has 59 catches for 1,263 yards. Simsbury's Brad Helmkamp leads the league in rushing yards with 1,026.

The Blue Knights led the league in scoring this week by notching 38 points on Cheshire. Barmore ran for 47 yards in the win.
