Football Recap: Salem Takes a Loss

After soaring to 56 points the game before, Salem was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They were beaten by the Roxana Shells 46-7. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-0.

Kaeden Bevolo threw for 45 yards on six of 13 attempts. On the ground, Trey Clark rushed for 77 yards.

Mekhi Shorter continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Roxana, rushing for 115 yards and a pair of TDs on only five carries. Shorter is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 102 every time he's taken the field this season.

Salem now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Roxana, their win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

Salem has already played their next game, a 48-13 loss against Breese Central on the 3rd. As for Roxana, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 21-19 defeat against Freeburg on the 3rd.
