Softball Recap: San Marino Takes a Loss

San Marino was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 20-11 to the Monrovia Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, with their most recent defeat being a 17-13 loss back in April.

Kayla Giddings stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sarah Esbenshade, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

San Marino's defeat dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Monrovia, their record is now 8-14-1.

San Marino wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 10-2 loss against South Pasadena on the 7th. As for Monrovia, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 16-11 victory against Temple City on the 5th.
