Softball Game Preview: Spruce Timberwolves vs. Poteet Pirates

Spruce is 0-5 against Poteet since March of 2023 but things could change on Tuesday. Spruce will square off against Poteet at 5:30 p.m. Spruce has given up an average of 16.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Spruce is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 13th straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They lost 26-1 to Samuell.

Madison S. was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Poteet had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. Everything went their way against the Wranglers as they made off with a 14-1 win. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Poteet pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Spruce, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Spruce might still be hurting after the 26-0 loss they got from Poteet when the teams last played on March 7th. Can Spruce avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
