Softball Recap: Dos Pueblos Comes Up Short

Dos Pueblos and Riverside Prep squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Dos Pueblos had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Silver Knights by a score of 4-2. The Chargers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Emily Morici was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over nine innings while giving up four earned runs off nine hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 24 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Morici wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kacey Hurley, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Dos Pueblos' loss dropped their record down to 21-7. As for Riverside Prep, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 27-4.

As of now, neither Dos Pueblos nor the Silver Knights have any future games scheduled.
