Baseball Recap: Orestimba Takes a Loss

Orestimba had lost five straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 8-15 to make it six. They came up short against the Ripon Christian Knights, falling 14-4. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by exactly ten runs.

Orestimba saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Damian Mendoza, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Adrian Figueroa also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

As for Ripon Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games.

On Ripon Christian's side, Trenton Cloward was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Cloward has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Tyler Wadlow was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Jackson Howell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
