Basketball Game Preview: Hemphill Hornets vs. West Sabine Tigers

The Hemphill Hornets will square off against the West Sabine Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Sabine took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Hemphill, who comes in off a win.

On Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Hemphill beat Woden 59-55.

Meanwhile, West Sabine played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Shelbyville, falling 79-45. The Tigers have struggled against the Dragons recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Hemphill pushed their record up to 9-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for West Sabine, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.

Hemphill and West Sabine were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but Hemphill came up empty-handed after a 49-48 loss. Can Hemphill avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
