Ian Mellor commands the offense for Winged Lions win

Recap: Rowland Hall Winged Lions vs. American Leadership Academy Eagles

Even though the American Leadership Academy Eagles scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, the Rowland Hall Winged Lions still came out on top. Rowland Hall took their game against American Leadership Academy 68-56. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Rowland Hall.

Rowland Hall's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ian Mellor led the charge by scoring 21 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mellor has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Yeshi Tsering, who scored 13 points along with seven assists and five steals.

Despite the loss, American Leadership Academy still got an impressive performance from Kannon Huntsman, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 29 rebounds. Huntsman has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. Grant Jackson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Rowland Hall's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-9. As for American Leadership Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.

Rowland Hall will be playing at home against American Prep WV at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. American Prep WV knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Rowland Hall likes a good challenge. As for American Leadership Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Draper APA at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Draper APA is ranked 135th, while American Leadership Academy is ranked 117th).
