Baseball Game Preview: Stratton Eagles vs. Byers Bulldogs

The Stratton Eagles will take on the Byers Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Stratton has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Stratton's offense. They came up short against Eads on Tuesday, falling 12-0.

Meanwhile, Byers fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Wiggins on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 4-3. The Bulldogs just can't catch a break and have now endured six losses in a row.

Kaden Bennett spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on 11 hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Byers saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Earl, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Stratton's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-5. As for Byers, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Stratton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Byers struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Everything went Stratton's way against Byers in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, as Stratton made off with a 16-4 victory. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
