Recap: Van Vandals vs. Carthage Bulldogs
It was a good run, but The Van Vandals unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 35-7 loss at the hands of Carthage. The low total for Van limited their streak of high-flying scores to three in a row.
Carthage's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kj Edwards, who rushed for 78 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. Edwards hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games. Carthage also got help from Bradan Manning who showed off his sure hands for 116 receiving yards.
Van's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Carthage, their win was their 12th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 10-0.
Van will take on Bullard at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bullard will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 341st, while Van is ranked 91st). Carthage does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
