Football Recap: Saranac Lake Starts Season with Loss at Home

Saranac Lake unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 20-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Massena Raiders on Friday. The Red Storm were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Massena's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mason Deshane led the charge by rushing for 110 yards and one score. Drake Love made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Saranac Lake and Massena will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Red Storm will face off against rival Moriah at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Massena is set to square off against their familiar foe St. Lawrence Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
