Basketball Game Preview: Philomath Warriors vs. North Marion Huskies

Philomath is 9-1 against North Marion since January of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Philomath Warriors will face off against the North Marion Huskies at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Philomath has three straight victories, North Marion has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Tuesday, Philomath didn't have too much trouble with Sweet Home as they won 48-29. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Huskies are ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, North Marion came up short against Newport on Tuesday and fell 72-62. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (55), the Huskies still had to take the loss.

North Marion's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Philomath, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8.

Philomath didn't have too much breathing room in their game against North Marion in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 42-38 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Philomath since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
