Preview: Newton-Conover Red Devils vs. West Caldwell Warriors

Newton-Conover is 10-0 against West Caldwell since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Newton-Conover Red Devils will head out on the road to face off against the West Caldwell Warriors at 6:30 p.m. Newton-Conover is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.

Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Newton-Conover, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 57-43 loss to Maiden.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Sara Sain, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. She hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadleigh Swagger, who scored 18 points.

Meanwhile, West Caldwell's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 79-19 loss at the hands of East Burke. West Caldwell has struggled against East Burke recently, as their match on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Newton-Conover has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for West Caldwell, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14.

Newton-Conover strolled past West Caldwell when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a score of 39-22. The rematch might be a little tougher for Newton-Conover since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
