Basketball Game Preview: Orion Chargers vs. Kewanee Boilermakers

The Orion Chargers will head out on the road to face off against the Kewanee Boilermakers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Orion took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They had just enough and edged Mercer County out 41-39. The win was some much needed relief for the Chargers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Kewanee over Farmington in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Kewanee blew Farmington out of the water with a 55-17 final score. With the Boilermakers ahead 30-4 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Kewanee has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. As for Orion, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 10-18.

Orion ended up a good deal behind Kewanee when the teams last played back in February of 2024, losing 59-41. Can Orion avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
