Duxbury strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Whitman-Hanson Regional Panthers. While the Dragons didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Francesca ?Franky? Iovanna was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Iovanna was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Catherine Grimaldi was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Jodi Soderstrom was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Duxbury was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Duxbury's win bumped their record up to 4-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Duxbury will welcome Pembroke at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Whitman-Hanson Regional, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Plymouth South at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
