Baseball Recap: Tracy Comes Up Short

After flying high against West on Monday, Tracy came back down to earth. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Wolfpack by a score of 6-4 on Tuesday. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wolfpack earlier this season, when they won 13-0.

Tracy got a good showing from Leland Freitas, who tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Furthermore, Freitas didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March.

At the plate, Brady Brown was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. Tracy is 3-1 when Brown posts two or more runs, but 8-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacoby Freitas, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Tracy has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for West, they moved to 6-18-1 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

While Tracy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
