Softball Recap: Bridge City Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Bridge City faced off against Kirbyville on Friday. The Bridge City Cardinals fell 5-1 to the Kirbyville Wildcats. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2019.

Bridge City has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. The win (which was Kirbyville's fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.

Coming up, Bridge City will challenge Hamshire-Fannett at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Kirbyville, they will square off against Port Neches-Groves at 2:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Port Neches-Groves has won four straight at home, while Kirbyville won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
