Basketball Preview: Summertown Eagles vs. Lewis County Panthers
The Summertown Eagles and the Lewis County Panthers will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Summertown will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
In what's become a running theme this season, Summertown gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 72-15 victory over Mt. Pleasant. With Summertown ahead 42-7 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Karlie Campbell continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with six steals. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 20 or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ella Busby, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 61-6, which was the final score in Lewis County's tilt against the Mustangs on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lewis County has scored all season.
Summertown has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. As for Lewis County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-12.
Everything came up roses for Summertown against the Panthers in their previous meeting on Thursday as the team secured a 76-18 win. With Summertown ahead 50-14 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
