Softball Recap: King's Christian Falls to Riverside in First Game of Season

King's Christian had to start their season on the road on Wednesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Riverside Rams by a score of 7-6.

Bridet Levandoski put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off 11 hits. Levandoski was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Ava Garcia made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and four RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Lily Welsh was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. King's Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Calvary Christian Academy at 3:30 p.m. on April 4th. As for Riverside, they will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against STEMCivics at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
