Recap: Westminster Catawba Christian Indians vs. Hickory Grove Christian Lions
The Westminster Catawba Christian Indians stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Hickory Grove Christian as Westminster Catawba Christian made off with a 78-52 victory. Given Westminster Catawba Christian's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 89th in South Carolina, while Hickory Grove Christian is ranked 410th in North Carolina), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Stephen Quinn was his usual excellent self, going 8 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kenyon Addie, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kevin Powell, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds. Stephen Dickey was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Westminster Catawba Christian is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. As for Hickory Grove Christian, they are on a 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17.
Westminster Catawba Christian and Gaston Christian will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The timing is sure in Gaston Christian's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home while Westminster Catawba Christian has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. Hickory Grove Christian will take on Northside Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
